Parking
Park safely at Reinsvangen when you plan to hike Besseggen, Knutshø, or explore other trails in the Gjende area in Jotunheimen.
Extra info: Parking and shuttle bus during Easter
Avoid queues and parking congestion at Valdresflye during Easter. We recommend parking at Reinsvangen and taking the shuttle bus onward.
- Shuttle can be pre booked by calling +47 418 62 785 at NOK 100 per person
- Please provide your name, number of people and preferred departure time
- You can also call the same number for pick up at Valdresflye
- Prepared cross country ski tracks are available between Valdresflye and Maurvangen, weather permitting

- Café Gjendeosen: 10:30 to 16:30
- Valdresflye Café: 10:00 to 17:00
Long-term parking is not available at Gjendeosen, so it’s advisable to park at Reinsvangen when embarking Gjendebåten on your trip to Memurubu or Gjendebu, heading for a hike in the surround mountains.
At Reinsvangen, you can securely park before taking the shuttle bus to Gjendeosen. You can pre-book parking for up to a week. At Reinsvangen you will find a kiosk.
This is how you get to the Reinsvangen parking lot:
- Follow FV51 until you see the sign for the turnoff to Gjendeosen, Gjendesheim, and Gjendebåtene.
- Continue along the road until you see the parking sign for Gjendeosen and Gjendebåtene.
You can pay for parking and the shuttle bus upon arrival at Reinsvangen, but it’s recommended to pre-book in order to save time.
Practical information:
- Arrive at least 1 hour before your departure with Gjendebåtene.
- Are you arriving with a rental car? Don’t book parking until you have the license plate number of the vehicle.
- The shuttle bus runs continuously from the parking lot in the morning, with return trips from Gjendeosen to Reinsvangen every half hour from 3:00 PM onwards.
- Parking can be booked for up to a week.
